In addition to the regular after-school care offered through SAE, the Meiklejohn PTA partners with our teachers and local community programs to offer other academic, physical, and social enrichment activities to Meiklejohn students. Student enrichment opportunities are announced via the school Messenger communication and on the Meiklejohn PTA website in the fall, winter, and spring. The PTA helps coordinate these activities at the school, but all registration and payments are handled directly by our community partners. All vendors must complete a background investigation and supply a certificate of insurance.

All Things Circus!
All Things Circus!
Spoon Circus is so excited to bring our All Things Circus after school program to Meiklejohn Elementary. In this course, participants will get to try classic circus skills such as juggling, diablo, tight-wire walking, spinning plates, stilts and more. Our wonderful team of local professional circus artists will be introducing participants to over 20 skills in the 15 weeks session. The course will conclude with a casual 'show-off' inviting family and friends in to see some of the new-found circus skills on display!

Spanish Club
Spanish Club
Señora Garcia and Señora Johnson are continuing Spanish Club!
The Spanish Club engages the wonderful world of Spanish language and culture through story-telling, song, rhyme, games, and crafts. Each week, new material and activities will be introduced and previous material will be recycled and reviewed, an enjoyable approach that is effective in language learning.
We use comprehensible input pedagogy meaning as much Spanish is presented and used as possible throughout our time together and participants 'absorb' and retain language in a natural, enjoyable manner.
The club is designed with flexible "entry" points, so that any student who did not attend previously can join in at any point and can also pause and then resume at any point.

Taekwondo
Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a dynamic martial art of self defense noted for building strong bodies through punching and kicking. But it also builds strong minds. Through the discipline, attention and concentration needed to learn Taekwondo, (and to know when, and when not to use it) your child will enhance their personal skills needed to study longer and work harder in school. Coordination, strength and stamina for their body and mind.
Our special after school program is a special course offered to the students of Meiklejohn Elementary. We will be teaching the students Taekwondo in a positive, structured environment.
