Mileage (Run) Club

We are excited to kick off the Meiklejohn Run Club (also known as the Mileage Club) this school year! Run Club is a fun, low-pressure opportunity for students K-5 to get moving during recess while working toward a goal.

Program Overview

Mileage (Run) Club is a weekly offering during lunch recess that rewards students for walking or running. For every mile (4 laps) completed during recess, students earn a toe charm! For every 5 cumulative miles (20 laps), they earn a special themed charm for their necklace. Individual and class prizes will also be awarded throughout the year.

What's New This Year

Frequency: Mileage Club will run once a week on Fridays (excluding Fall Fest, Halloween, and December 18th), weather permitting for outdoor recess.

Digital Scanning: We are using QR scanners instead of paper tracking this year. Each student card features a colored dot corresponding to a designated iPad scanning station. This allows us to track daily laps and cumulative mileage accurately.

Charm Prizes: Students now earn a toe charm for every 4 laps (1 mile) completed in a single recess, and a special charm for every 5 cumulative miles.

Individual & Class Prizes: We will feature milestones for individual achievements (13.1 miles, 26.2 miles) and top mileage runners, as well as class prizes for the highest lap averages (e.g., PJ days, extra recess, ROAR tickets). Specific details will be shared once finalized.

Theme Days: Volunteers will dress up for occasional theme days throughout the year (e.g., Halloween costumes, turkey hats, etc), with potential special guest appearances!
