We are excited to kick off the Meiklejohn Run Club (also known as the Mileage Club) this school year! Run Club is a fun, low-pressure opportunity for students K-5 to get moving during recess while working toward a goal. Students receive a charm necklace and a personalized QR code card. They earn a charm each week they participate. Total laps are recorded using the QR code cards and students will win medals for accomplishing specific milestones throughout the year.
Run Club will take place during recess on Fridays throughout the school year, with a few Fridays excluded because of school events, breaks, or no-school days. See the Run Club Volunteer Sign-Up Genius for the specific dates. In years past, Run Club was held on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the fall and spring only, so please note this change. Our first Run Club will be Friday, September 11.
We would love to have family volunteers each Friday to assist the Run Club parent leads. NO RUNNING REQUIRED FOR VOLUNTEERS! The parent leads will take care of setting up and breaking down. All you have to do is join us for as little or as long as you’d like. Come for just your child’s recess or stay for all grade levels!
Meet us at the Beeman Park gazebo (field behind the school). No need to enter through the main office.
Arrive when you wish and leave when you wish!
Help pass out QR code cards and collect and alphabetize them at the end of each grade-level recess.
Assist students in scanning their cards if needed.
Hand out charms.
Run, don’t run, cheer, get to know other parents, get a hug from your kids, and have fun!
